Huawei's Quick-Charge Batteries can charge 50 percent in a Few Minutes

huawei
The Chinese company, Huawei has unveiled its new quick-charging batteries which can charge 10 times faster than conventional batteries. The company claims that the new batteries can be charged to about 50 percent capacity in a few minutes.

The company claimed that the quick charging batteries underwent many rounds of testing. They have also shared two videos showing two types of quick-charging lithium-ion batteries. The videos show that a 600mAh battery can be charged to 68 percent capacity in two minutes and a 3000mAh battery with an energy density above 620 Wh/L can be charged to 48 percent capacity in five minutes.

Huawei detailed that it bonded hetero-atoms to the molecule of graphite in anode, which could be a catalyst for the capture and transmission of lithium through carbon bonds. These hetero-atoms increase the charging speed of batteries without decreasing energy density or battery life.

The Chinese company expects that its new quick charging battery will offer great backups in electronic devices including smartphones, electric-powered vehicles, wearable devices, and mobile power supplies.

Huawei has not revealed when they will be launching its handsets with the new quick-charging batteries.
