Opera Max now Saves Data for Streaming Music Apps

Opera MaxOpera Max, the data-compression app that helps Android users reduce their data consumption, will now compress data on popular music apps, the company announced on Monday.

Opera Max expanded to video services YouTube and Netflix in August, but is now expanding to streaming music apps. Opera Max now saves data on popular music-streaming apps like YouTube Music, Gaana, Saavn, Pandora, and Slacker Radio, so you can listen your favorite music anytime, anywhere, even if there is no Wi-Fi around.

"This is just the start as we will be bringing even more data savings to more apps over the next few months," Opera said in a blog post.

Opera Max saves you data, extending your data plan and gives you unparalleled control over your phone’s data consumption. This data-management & data-savings app saves 3G / 4G / LTE and Wi-Fi data usage by up to 50%. It saves data by compressing videos, photos and media in your favourite apps and websites over mobile and Wi-Fi networks without any noticeable loss of quality.

Opera Max also helps to save battery and data by allowing you to block any apps running in the background without your knowledge. You can also use it as your Wi-Fi manager, for better control of what your apps do in the background when on Wi-Fi.

In emerging markets like India, data compression is critical for those who can't afford to waste data. But even in markets like the U.S, a little data compression is needed for those who doesn't have access into unlimited data plans.
